and featuring Sun Ra Arkestra’s Marshall Allen and DMHotep (2/26 only)
Ars Nova Workshop presents the Detroit-based experimental noise duo Wolf Eyes along with members of the Sun Ra Arkestra (Marshall Allen & DMHotep) as well as collaborators from their recent collection, Difficult Messages, at Solar Myth on February 26 & 27.
Formed in 1996 by Nate Young, the corrosive and blistering Wolf Eyes has mutated through a number of different forms, built around the core duo of Young and John Olson. Collaboration has been a constant throughout their quarter-century-plus history, including meetings with experimentalists like Anthony Braxton, Merzbow, Marshall Allen and Richard Pinhas. It is the focus of the duo’s latest release, Difficult Messages, which finds the pair colliding with a number of fellow non-traditionalists. For this show they’ll be joined by Alex Moskos (Drainolith, AIDS Wolf) and Raven Chacon, who recently became the first Native American composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for music.
