Ars Nova Workshop presents the British post-rock trio Still House Plants at Solar Myth on Wednesday, April 2, 2024.

Hailed by The Guardian as “the most vital band in Britain today, in every sense,” London-based Still House Plants was formed a decade ago while its three members were students at the Glasgow School of Art. Vocalist Jess Hickie-Kallenbach, drummer David Kennedy and guitarist Finlay Clark found common ground by melding post-rock angularity and free jazz energy with soulful and gritty influences from R&B, jazz and garage rock. Their songs take amorphous forms, simultaneously constructing and deconstructing themselves in real time. “Whatever ineffable force makes music feel both contained and alive, Still House Plants have it,” wrote Pitchfork of their 2024 release If I don’t make it, I love u. “Their beautifully fractured sound seems made of nerve endings.”
