Ars Nova Workshop presents the acclaimed vibraphonist Sasha Berliner at Solar Myth on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Originally from San Francisco, California, Sasha Berliner is a rock drummer turned vibraphonist who studied under Stefon Harris. At 21, she became the youngest individual in the poll’s history to top the “Rising Star – Vibraphone” category in the DownBeat Critics’ Poll. She has continued to be voted one of the top ten vibraphonists in the poll every year since 2021. Writing in All About Jazz, critic Paul Rauch said, “Berliner is in the firmament of the here and now in modern jazz, and appears likely to occupy that upper stratosphere for some time to come.”

The politically charged, style-blending, alternative sound of Berliner’s 2019 debut, Azalea, employed digital effects, synths, audio speech samples, and strings, bringing together her diverse musical background and influences. Since then she has released the live outing Tabula Rasa and two further studio offerings, Onyx (2022) and Fantome (2025). In addition to performing with her own band, Berliner has recorded and performed live with such renowned musicians as Tyshawn Sorey, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, and Cecile Mclorin Salvant.
