Ars Nova Workshop presents the inventive trumpeter Peter Evans, a master of extended technique, and his new quartet Being & Becoming, at Solar Myth on February 2. 

For 20 years NYC-based, trumpeter, composer, bandleader and educator Peter Evans has been pushing the boundaries of creative music in formats as divergent as solo trumpet improvisation, symphony orchestras, jazz ensembles, noise/electronic music, and through-composed works. He’s been the recipient of awards and commissions worldwide including the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 2022. His new quartet Being & Becoming features some of the leading lights from the next generation of creative musicians: bassist Nick Jozwiak, and drummer Michael Shekwoaga Ode. Their self-titled debut album features a set of new compositions from Evans, moving between notated chamber music textures, free improvisations, deep grooves and telepathic ensemble playing.
