Ars Nova Workshop is proud to present the trio of legendary improvisers Marilyn Crispell, Mark Dresser and Gerry Hemingway, playing two sets at Solar Myth on July 8.

Each renowned improvisers and composers in their own right, pianist Marilyn Crispell, bassist Mark Dresser and drummer Gerry Hemingway also worked alongside Anthony Braxton as the dynamic rhythm section for the legendary saxophonist/composer’s mid-’80s through mid-’90s quartet. The trio reunited in 2010 to celebrate Braxton’s 65th birthday, subsequently releasing the acclaimed album Play Braxton on John Zorn’s Tzadik imprint. In The New York City Jazz Record, Stuart Broomer wrote that, “all three navigate this music with an intimacy that blurs compositional and improvisational methodologies into indivisible music.”
