Luke Stewart’s Silt Trio

Ars Nova Workshop presents the in–demand bassist Luke Stewart with his long–running Silt Trio at Solar Myth on Monday, May 13, 2024.

An omnipresent and galvanizing force on the creative music scene, Luke Stewart is a leader or co–leader of such bands as Irreversible Entanglements, Exposure Quintet, Blacks’ Myths, Heart of the Ghost, and Heroes are Gang Leaders. He has also performed with the likes of David Murray, Nicole Mitchell, James Brandon Lewis, Moor Mother, Jaime Branch, Nate Wooley, Ken Vandermark and countless others. This performance celebrates the release of Unknown Rivers, the new album featuring featuring tenor saxophonist Brian Settles and drummers Chad Taylor and Trae Crudup. Described as “gripping… [relying] on subtlety and insinuation to register its uncanny power” by The Quietus, Stewart’s Silt Trio is that magical juxtaposition of playing with raw spontaneity while maintaining intent and purpose.
