Lotte Anker & Chris Corsano
December 8, 2022 8:00pm
Join Ars Nova Workshop for a duo performance and Philadelphia premiere by Danish saxophonist Lotte Anker and drummer Chris Corsano, at Solar Myth on Thursday, December 8.
Lotte Anker is a Copenhagen-based saxophone player and composer working in the fields between experimental jazz, improvisation, and contemporary music. Her music includes melodic and often twisted or fragmented elements alongside more abstract textural material, covering a wide range of modes from minimal to dark expressionism. Lotte Anker has been a member of many highly acclaimed collaborations, including her trios with Craig Taborn and Gerald Cleaver, and with Sylvie Courvoisier and Ikue Mori, to name a few.
One of the greatest drummers working today, Chris Corsano has developed a percussive language of extraordinary amplitude and infinite resources. His collaborations stretch from free jazz greats (Joe McPhee, Paul Flaherty) to noise guitar mavens (Bill Nace, Bill Orcutt) and pop superstars (Björk). Capable of generating narrative out of permanent ecstasy, Corsano never ceases to be profoundly affirmative and imposing with his language. Always an absolute and charismatic virtuoso, he is simultaneously one of the noblest and most generous improvisers of the last few decades.
