Pioneering electronic music composer Laurie Spiegel and Dither present an evening of music from her iconic 1979 album The Expanding Universe, reimagined for four electric guitars, at Solar Myth on Friday, June 7, 2024.

An innovator at the forefront of computer-based music, Laurie Spiegel was one of the artists whose work was chosen by Carl Sagan for the famed “Golden Record” launched into space aboard the Voyager spacecraft to represent humankind to the rest of the universe. Pitchfork recently wrote that, “Spiegel’s music continues to resonate and often sounds strangely contemporary… She can evoke the chilling cosmos while also crafting something small-scale and warm.” Formed in 2007, Dither is dedicated to an eclectic mix of experimental repertoire which spans composed, improvised, and electronic music. The quartet – Taylor Levine, Joshua Lopes, James Moore, and Brendon Randall-Myers – will present an evening of music from her iconic 1979 album The Expanding Universe, reimagined for four electric guitars.
