Ars Nova Workshop presents the visionary saxophonist and composer Darius Jones and his trio, featuring bassist Chris Lightcap and drummer Jason Nazary, at Solar Myth on Friday, January 10.

Darius Jones has forged a distinctive voice as a critically acclaimed saxophonist and composer by embracing individuality and innovation in the tradition of Black creative music. He has received acclaim for not only his studio albums featuring music and images evocative of Black Futurism, but also for his commissioned work as a composer and his collaborations with the likes of Matthew Shipp, Oliver Lake, William Parker, Andrew Cyrille, Craig Taborn, Wet Ink Ensemble, Jason Moran, Dave Burrell, Matana Roberts, Nicole Mitchell, International Contemporary Ensemble and many more. His stunning new album Legend of e’Boi (The Hypervigilant Eye), featuring his trio with drummer Jason Nazary and bassist Chris Lightcap, is the seventh chapter in Jones’ expansive “Man’ish Boy” epic and a powerful meditation on Black mental health and healing.
