Camila Niebla Trio
Ars Nova Workshop is thrilled to present saxophonist, composer and improviser Camila Niebla and her trio at Solar Myth on October 1, 2025.
Camila Niebla is a Berlin-based saxophonist, composer, improviser, visual artist, and curator originally from Buenos Aires, hailed by Jazz.pt as “an essential saxophonist of our time.” Her multidisciplinary practice forms a powerful constellation of music, film, and performance that explores identity, migration, and the erasures and hauntings of memory. Through both composition and improvisation, she constructs emotionally charged sound worlds—such as on her acclaimed solo album una ofrenda a la ausencia (Relative Pitch Records), described by The New York City Jazz Record as “innately human and personal.” A dynamic presence in international scenes, Niebla has collaborated with artists like Marilyn Crispell, Angelica Sanchez, Michael Formanek, and Patrick Shiroishi, and performed at festivals including Jazz Fest Berlin, Saalfelden, Ultima Oslo, and the Winter Jazz Festival. She is co-founder of the Lilaila record label (with Marta Sanchez and Maria Grand) and an active curator, leading experimental series such as “Disfigured Rivers” in Berlin and “Guillotina” in Buenos Aires. Her current projects include duos and trios with Downes, Lisle, Sanchez, and Formanek, as well as her sextet The Hanged One. She is a 2024 and 2025 German Jazz Prize nominee in the Woodwinds category.
