Please join Ars Nova Workshop for a special evening revisiting Moor Mother’s essential Rockers! series, presented as part of King Britt’s Blacktronika: Now & Then series at Solar Myth on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Celebrated musician, producer, curator and professor King Britt has long been a pivotal figure in placing his hometown on the global electronic music map. His course “Blacktronika: Afrofuturism in Electronic Music”—a celebration of the contributions of innovators of color to electronic music—has grown into a festival with events in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Knoxville, Paris and more cities slated for 2025. As a tribute to his local roots, King Britt will curate BLACKTRONIKA: Philadelphia Now and Then, a weeklong series of performances, workshops and discussions.
As part of the festival, Philadelphia-based artist, musician and activist Moor Mother (aka Camae Ayewa) will revisit her seminal series Rockers! on stage at Solar Myth. Founded in 2007 and running for 15 years, Rockers! was a festival that presented the work of marginalized musicians and artists across diverse musical genres.
