Please join Ars Nova Workshop for a pair of very special performances, as legendary saxophonist Billy Harper revisits two of his most revered classic albums at Solar Myth on December 16-17.

On the occasion of his 80th birthday last year, the New York Times declared that, “Billy Harper is still a towering force.” The ferocious tenor player has maintained that status for nearly six decades, from his early experiences playing with such giants as Elvin Jones, Max Roach, Lee Morgan, the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra and Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers to his recent work as an essential part of the hard-bop supergroup The Cookers. Harper recently visited Philly to celebrate the dedication of a new historical marker for Lee Morgan outside the former site of the Aqua Lounge, where Harper had performed with the trumpet legend 50 years earlier. He’ll make his much anticipated return to Solar Myth to revisit a pair of his own classic sessions, Black Saint (December 16) and The Believer (December 17).
