Ars Nova Workshop is excited to present the experimental supergroup Beings, featuring Zoh Amba, Steve Gunn, Jim White and Shahzad Ismaily, at Solar Myth on Tuesday, July 30.

The dazzling  improvisational aggregation brings together four of the most restlessly inquisitive and searching minds in modern creative music spanning (and spurning) multiple genres and the unexplored terrain in between. The irrepressible saxophonist Zoh Amba has rapidly established herself as a boundlessly creative locus of the NYC improvised music community, with an enviable and ever-expanding list of collaborators to her name. Doylestown-raised guitarist Steve Gunn is  an exploratory sound sculptor as well as a mesmerizing singer-songwriter. Shahzad Ismaily is a malleable sonic experimentalist, visionary in a stunning array of roles including as bassist of Marc Ribot’s punk-jazz Ceramic Dog as well as a venturesome multi-instrumentalist and producer. And inventive drummer Jim White is the shape-shifting backbone of the Dirty Three and Xylouris White.
