Avram Fefer-Hill Greene-Reggie Nicholson Trio
- Avram Fefer — saxophone
- Hill Greene — bass
- Reggie Nicholson — drums
Ars Nova Workshop presents the veteran saxophonist Avram Fefer and his stunning trio featuring bassist Hill Greene and drummer Reggie Nicholson, at Solar Myth on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
A longtime member of African-American cultural icon Greg Tate’s Burnt Sugar Arkestra and Adam Rudolph’s Go:Organic Orchestra, saxophonist-composer Avram Fefer has recorded with The Last Poets and Archie Shepp; led acid-jazz, drum-n-bass and electric avant-dance groups; collaborated in Gnawa, Manding, and other African musical ensembles; worked with directors Melvin Van Peebles and Ivo Van Hove; and created an ongoing series of solo interactions with the sculptures of Richard Serra. His new trio features bass great Hill Greene, whose expansive half-century career includes tenures with everyone from Jimmy Scott to Cecil Taylor and the house band at Milton’s; and drummer Reggie Nicholson, who has performed and recorded with fellow AACM members Anthony Braxton, Muhal Richard Abrams and Henry Threadgill, among others.
