8PM

Ars Nova Workshop presents saxophonist and composer Alden Hellmuth, performing music from her new project Tether at Solar Myth on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Alden Hellmuth is a saxophonist, composer, and improviser based in New York City. A graduate of the Herbie Hancock Institute, Hellmuth received the 2025 German Jazz Prize for Debut Album of the Year (International) for her album Good Intentions (Fresh Sound Records). Writing for Something Else, S. Victor Aaron  praised the album for, “taking chances in differing ways, landing on its feet every time because of carefully creative composing, imaginative arranging and democratic group dynamics.”

An artist who seeks expression through freedom, intuition, and a deep commitment to her craft, Hellmuth has performed and/or recorded widely across genres with artists including Herbie Hancock, Dianne Reeves, Adi Meyerson, Josh Evans, Lex Korten, Kahiem Rivera and Moses Sumney. At Solar Myth, Hellmuth will be presenting music from her latest project, Tether, set to be released June 26th with Berlin-based record label LEITER Verlag, with Yvonne Rogers on piano, Timothy Angulo on drums, ____ on bass, and ___ on trumpet.
