Ars Nova Workshop presents Grammy-nominated drummer/producer/MC Kassa Overall and his innovative blend of jazz and hip-hop at Solar Myth on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Kassa Overall is a Grammy-nominated musician, emcee, singer, producer and drummer who melds avant-garde experimentation with hip-hop production techniques to tilt the nexus of jazz and rap in unmapped directions. Pitchfork has called Overall, “One of modern jazz’s most audacious futurists.” At the outset of his career, Overall quickly earned acclaim as a drummer with the likes of Geri Allen, Christian McBride and Ravi Coltrane; he briefly joined Jon Batiste’s band on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Overall honed his singular blend of jazz and hip-hop over the course of four critically acclaimed projects – I THINK I’M GOOD, Go Get Ice Cream and Listen to Jazz, Shades of Flu and Shades of Flu 2 – before making his Warp Records debut with ANIMALS, pushing his kaleidoscopic, subversive vision further with cross-genre collaborators including Danny Brown, Shabazz Palaces, Theo Croker and Vijay Iyer. He’s taken another bold leap forward with his upcoming follow-up album, which he’ll preview at Solar Myth.
